different versions of sent message

I just sent a message to someone at Drew, and the message they quoted in their reply is not the version of the message I sent. What they apparently received was a version of the message as it was a few minutes before I hit "send", before I had changed a couple of lines and added the last sentences. The message in my "sent" folder is the more recent version I thought I sent.

I'm using Outlook and know that Outlook periodically saves drafts of messages. But those shouldn't be SENT, right? And more importantly (and this turns it into a groupwise issue rather than an unsupported software issue), why would a recipient receive a different version of a message than is sitting in my sent folder??? I'm checking my sent folder via webaccess, so Outlook isn't involved there.

When you are using a GroupWise client, the act of sending and creating an item in the Sent Items folder are one operation. The two are "joined at the hip". When you are using an IMAP mail client against ANY mail system, including GroupWise, it is the client that is responsible for creating a COPY of the message in the Sent Items folder (and this is entirely optional) and the actual sending of the message which occurs over a completely different protocol and could even go through a completely different set of servers than the one where your mailbox is located. GroupWise doesn't get in the way of (and can't really) of what Outlook is doing in this case. Whatever happened, it happened on the client side.
