New Outreach Initiative Toolkit and Implementation Grants Available
NAMI National is pleased to announce the availability of Sharing Hope: Understanding Mental Health*, a toolkit for outreach and education to African American congregations. This toolkit includes a practical guide to African American faith community outreach, a 60-minute scripted educational presentation for congregations, and more. Goals of this initiative are to decrease mental health stigma in this community, increase awareness of mental health recovery, and to introduce NAMI education and support programs.
NAMI National is seeking applications from NAMI state organizations and affiliates to expand and evaluate Sharing Hope: Understanding Mental Health and plans to award grants to eight sites. Each of the selected sites will receive a Sharing Hope implementation grant in the amount of $1,500 in order to cover the costs associated with the initiative.In addition to funding, grant program sites will receive technical assistance from the Multicultural Action Center , and will be able to participate in initiative updates/training conference calls.
