my dad has a question for anyone who is in the know about the laptops (i think it's funny he actually emailed this to me, despite our living in the same house...):
Can you email somone at Drew, post on a message board, etc. to find out if your computer will have MicroSoft Office (excel word, powerpoint) or something similar? If not, should we bring the proper software so you can put it on there yourself?
Your computer will have Microsoft Office suite installed on your computer when you get it. This is either the full version of Office, or close to it, including Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Access.
Yup - although it should be pointed out that this is licensed under our Microsoft Campus agreement. Basically, you're entitled to Office, and you can get upgrades as long as you're a student. Assuming you complete the degree program (If I remember right, that is a requirement), you can continue to use whatever version of Office you had at the point you graduated. If you want upgrades after that, you'd have to buy it. Windows works the same way, but rolling out new versions of Windows is a lot more complicated - I wouldn't expect us to really support Vista until (at best) fall of 2007, and initially that might just be on new systems. The R60/T60 systems can run Vista (you might want to add RAM to do it), and I expect we'll have a Drew-supported Windows Vista configuration for the R60/T60.
