Unpredictable T-mobile coverage in Riker
 
In my room, I never know when I'll have good service on my phone (e.g. enough to make a call) or if I'll be unable to place calls or receive text messages at all. It would be nice if the signal in Riker for T-mobile phones was stronger. :(

Unfortunately, T-Mobile is not covered by Drew's in-building cellular distribution system, so there is not really anything we can do about the poor service you are experiencing. Sprint is also not covered by the system, but AT&T and Verizon are.

The decision not to include T-Mobile and Sprint in the in-building cellular system was a financial one. Adding carriers increases costs substantially, so resources were focused on the carriers that are used by the majority of students (surveys showed that 85% of Drew students are either AT&T or Verizon customers). If you want to increase the likelihood that your phone will work in your dorm, the best thing you can do is switch to AT&T or Verizon. I personally would recommend Verizon, because we get fewer complaints from Verizon customers, by far.

If switching is not an option for you, all you can really do is contact T-Mobile customer support and inform them of your coverage problems. If they get enough complaints from students and residents in this area, they might take some action.

The poster above me makes a sad but true set of statements. I, however, wouldn't recommend switching. AT&T and Verizon are the most evil of the big four carriers. I switched to Verizon and my monthly bill literally doubled over what I was paying T-Mobile. They also don't have a plan that suits my usage. What I might recommend is finding a T-Mobile phone with something called UMA. That will allow you to make and potentially receive calls over a wireless network. Drew's wireless seems to actually work best with mobile devices anyway, so that might solve all of your problems. Had there been an Android phone with UMA at the time I switched, I may have just stayed with T-Mobile.
