Life Under Drones: Wounds Of Waziristan
On April 8, Madiha Tahir an independent journalist will be discussing the legality of the U.S drones in Pakistan. How the U.S. global war on terror agenda paved a path for the U.S to use drones in Pakistan. She will also be discussing the loss of hundreds of innocent children, women and displacement of civilian population due to drone attacks.
Wounds of Waziristan, a short documentary tells the lingering stories of those directly impacted by US drone attacks in Pakistan.The documentary explains the sorrows that the people in Waziristan face daily and explains much deeply the physical, mental, economical, and social impact that drones have on the ordinary lives.
Madiha R. Tahir is an independent journalist reporting on conflict, culture and politics in Pakistan. Her work has appeared in Foreign Affairs, Vice, The National, Guernica, The New Inquiry, The Columbia Journalism Review, The Wall Street Journal, The Herald (Pakistan), The Friday Times, Caravan, as well as on Democracy Now!, PRI and BBC’s The World, Global Post and other outlets. She holds a masters degree in Near Eastern Studies from NYU and an M.S. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She is also a co-editor of a volume, Dispatches from Pakistan with historian Vijay Prashad and editor Qalandar Bux Memon. Madiha is currently a doctoral student at Columbia University.
