There are language placement tests, a math placement test, and a chemistry placement test.

Do we have to take the math and chem placement tests even if we aren't going to be taking those two subjects this year?

"The Mathematics placement exam is required of all students who plan to take Math 1, 7, 8 or 16. Chemistry placement is required for those students entering level 6 or 6A"

Basically, if you ever think you are going to take it, take the exam.

Yeah, no placement if it's completely new, you just register for the intro course. (I'm in it!) And no, you don't have to take an exam for a language that you won't be taking in college, even if you took it in highschool. The placement exam is just to see what section (intro or advanced) you get in to. :)

p.s. I'm not really an authority or anything, but I just felt like replying to your message since no one had AND because I saw you were taking Arabic and I was excited because I'm taking it too, and I don't know a whole lot of people who are!

Because taking Arabic is the cool thing to do, right Ben?
I'm excited for it but very very scared. Can we start a support group?
I'd appreciate it haha.

If you are only taking stats then you shouldnt need a placement test. you won't need to take a placement exam for bio of the mind either.

Benjamin- You do not have to take a placement for a new language unless you have some background in the language and you think you might be too advanced for beginners. Regarding a language you hae taken in HS, I would recommend taking the placement exam in that language during orientation in case, at some point, you decide you want to continue in that language.

Marla: Regarding Hebrew placement, if you have some background in the language, you can arrange to meet with me to assess your knowledge level. In some cases, a student who has been in day school through grade 8 or so, retain enough knowledge of Hebrew to pass into second semester Hebrew.

It is great to see people interested in the lesser taught languages such as Hebrew and Arabic (and the numbers for the fall are near records in both languages).
