Screen stays on

For probably about a month, my computer's screen stays on for reasons I do not know. I turn it off using Function-F3, and then about five minutes later, it turns back on of its own accord. Does anyone know what I can do about this? I'm from CLA 2008, using an IBM ThinkPad

Do you have any programs running at the time? For example, I believe when WinAmp changes songs, it'll turn the monitor back on.

What you could do for now, is go into the Power Options Menu (Start > Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced Tab) and select "when I close the lid of my portable computer, do nothing." Then you can just close your computer, and it'll stay on, and your programs or whatever will stay on, but your monitor will shut off. That's how I have it set, and it works nicely.

Also, you can set a power scheme to turn the monitor off after a certain amount of time has passed in the Power Options Menu, different schemes for different times (1 for sleep another for movie watching etc...). But if you do this, try not use Fn + F3, as it seems to then reset the current schemes settings to default.

As for the screen turning on, any movement and yes changing of songs on a playlist, pretty much whenever the computers see's that it is being "used", it will turn the screen on.

I don't think iTunes turns the screen back on when it changes songs. But I'm not sure.

Neither Itunes nor Winamp turn the screen back on. But Windows media player will when it goes to the next song.
