Alternative Spring Break in Haiti!
Wed Nov. 10th 12:15-1:00 p.m. SEM HALL 109
Thurs Nov. 11th 6:00-7:00 p.m. UC 104
The Drew University community responded to the devastation of the January 12 earthquake in Haiti in multiple ways. And as the global community continues to support Haiti in their rebuilding, you too can participate in this collaborative process!!
Communities of Shalom, the Center Civic Engagement, and the Drew Spatial Data Center are partnering to maintain a sustainable system of social action and mutuality in relationship with Haiti. 10-12 undergraduate and graduate students will travel to Mizak, Haiti during Spring Break (March 5- 12, 2011).
Are you interested in international and systemic change? We will engage the Mizak, Haiti (83k south of Port-au-Prince) community in several ways as we learn about their culture. Opportunities for engagement include HIV/AIDS curriculum development, education, and awareness; women’s empowerment through economic sustainability and sexual health; organizational leadership; and mapping with geographic information systems technology (GIS).
We hope to continue a relationship of mutuality between Haiti and Drew University. If you would like to participate, you MUST attend at least one of the information sessions (or contact Joshua Clough email@example.com or Krista White firstname.lastname@example.org).
