The Mobility Server instructions are a new solution that we've been rolling out to people on a limited basis, and we're going to formally announce soon. In some ways it's a better solution in that it also synchronizes contacts and calendars, and also does "push" email which means messages show up as soon as you receive them (instead of the IMAP support on the iPhone which polls every few minutes depending on how you set it.)

So please go ahead and try it and let me know if you have any issues.

I must be doing something wrong. I tried following the different suggestions listed but I still can't get my iPhone 4 set up. The last way, going through GroupWise Mobility Server kept giving me an error saying it would not accept the certificate? I'm not sure what that means. Is there another method to try?

3G setup problem?
I just switched over from my blackberry to my dad's iPhone 3G. It's running on the 3.2 operating system and I can't seem to get my email to setup properly. I get to the point where it tells me that SSL is not verified and I press "continue" and it just gets stuck verifying IMAP account information and eventually determines that the setup failed. Any help?

Please note that these instructions are now obsolete. The best way to set up your iOS device to access Drew email is by connecting to the Mobility Server. Instructions are here.

Now I am wondering which of these set-ups is preferable, or more user friendly, or robust, or???

Thanks for helping us all out - I am sure that many iPhones were acquired by Drew faculty and staff over the holidays, so hopefully this will address these ongoing issues!

The Mobility server is much easier to set up, and appears to also be more reliable. It also has the added benefit of importing calendars onto the device, while IMAP won't do this.
