Adding ports to your room

I'd recommend getting a small ethernet switch - don't bother with a router. To maintain speed, you;d need to get one that's gigabit capable (usually marketed as 10/100/1000 Mb). You should be able to...

There are two different timeouts.

The timeout for the general authentication page (iChain) that login.drew.edu provides has a one-hour timeout. If you're hitting Drew-based web services at any point during that hour, it shouldn't...

I was seeing this until a week or two ago

We made a settings change on the new firewall to up the number simultaneous TCP connections it could handle. It wasn't the bandwidth, it was the size of the connection table in memory on the device....

Sorry to hear that. The antivirus industry (overall) is kind of a mess now, and the biggest issue is malicious software. Most recent evaluations show that the major and minor players are not doing a...

The multireader slot supports (I think) MMC, SD,...

That's generally true (in the residence halls, anyway), but in this case I'm pretty sure it's not going to help much. We've got traffic data that shows the internet connection is just getting...

The only fix is to get a faster connection

We can upgrade the internet connection from 100MB to 300MB. We don't have the money for that in the current CNS budget. We have made a budget request for next year that would allow us to upgrade,...
