It appears like your touchpad button is stuck down and causing the computer to not recognize the input when you touch it. You have found the only workaround to the problem which is to disable the touchpad.

To correct the problem, you can bring your computer to the CNS Helpdesk and have the touchpad/palmrest repaired. That will fix the problem with the touchpad and allow you to use it normally.
