I get the same result on my mac pro at home. I also noticed that Firefox does the same thing on windows it just associates the file with java web starter by default whereas OSX will try to open it with another program. For the time being I'd recomend using a batch rename file if the .aspx extension is the problem. Namechanger 2 works well for the mac and I believe it is free. If it is just a problem of java web start not starting when you download the file you just need to tell the computer to associate that file type with java web start on the mac. I believe there is a Firefox plugin to ultimately correct this and I am looking into it.
