There is a difference between violin and cello bows, the first one being that a cello bow is probably 80 grams versus the mere 60 grams of a violin bow. A bass bow can be anywhere from about 130 to 160 grams. A bow I might play on a cello, say 79 grams, would be hard to play on a violin, on which I generally use a 57.5 gram bow. A bass bow at the lowest, probably 125 grams, would be more than double the weight. There can also be differences in the hair and shape.

You should get the bow of whatever instrument you intend to use it for.
