Israel's Occupation: The Scarcity and Restriction of Water on April 10@5:30pm
On April 10 at 5:30 pm in BC 117. Guest speaker Amanda will discuss and explore the ways in which Israeli apartheid and occupation on Palestine has systemically created a scarcity of water and a lack of access to safe, clean water for Palestinians suffering under occupation and siege.
Amanda graduated from Oberlin College with majors in Politics and Environmental Studies, and was co-chair of Students for a Free Palestine, the oldest student Palestine solidarity organization in the United States. She interned at the Water and Environment Department of the Applied Research Institute-Jerusalem and her senior capstone project was focused on water in Palestine. At Oberlin, she worked with students to push mainstream environmentalism to incorporate conversations of justice and multiculturalism and continues to independently research the occupation of Palestine through the lens of environmental justice.
