Thumbs up Wireless in McLendon

CNS is in the process of improving wireless performance in McLendon!

I completed a walkthrough of the building last night to get base readings and am going to be making changes that will improve wireless performance.

On the 5th floor there is a source of interference that is causing connection issues. It could be a cordless phone, microwave, malfunctioning bluetooth device, or some other wireless device that isn't working as intended.

If you notice wireless getting more (or less!) usable let me know here!

Wireless in the 6th floor common area is good in general, but extremely slow to the point of unusable in room 601 adjacent. No known devices causing interference.

Thanks for looking into this.

Wireless is pretty unpredictable down the hall in McLendon 603. I usually always try to have my computer plugged in with the ethernet cable when possible to avoid the unpredictability. We do have a cordless phone but it's a very recent addition to our room so that can't be the problem because my suitemates and I have noticed this problem since we moved in.

Wireless rarely works for me in Mclendon 602. It'll often work fine for a little while, then suddenly drop to a speed of 1.0 Mbps - it's been doing this since the beginning of the semester, I always keep my ethernet cord plugged in because it's almost pointless to try the wireless.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 - my suitemate has an Acer of some sort and hasn't ever had a problem with the wireless.
