Default Coughy, Achy, Sickly!!

Hello Drew Community:

If you are severely stuffy, sneezy, have a bad cough, are freezing when it's clearly warm out and are hot when it's clearly chilly outside and your body feels hot to the touch....
....stop coming to class and go to the doctors! Please

Two out of my four classes have already forced me to encounter people and their OBVIOUSLY worsening symptoms. GO TO THE DOCTOR'S!

Go to the doctor's what? Seriously though, it's not that easy to just miss class if you are sick. They probably already know they are sick. Most lecture-based classes are difficult to miss, sick or not, because of the amount of material you go over in every class. Part of college is being exposed to sick people.

I'm not talking about people who just have the sniffles. I'm talking about people who complain of being cold while having a stuffy nose while coughing up their lungs while sneezing and hacking all over the place. I've seen a lot of people in classes I have doing that and it would not hurt them to stop by health services in between or after classes.

I think you should thank them for strengthening your precious immune system!

Um... I'm still not seeing why they should have to miss class. Going to health services is not going to cure them.

Default Classes if you have the flu

Going to health services won't cure the flu, but going to class when you have it will spread it to others, and won't cure it either. Everyone on the faculty knows that we may see cases of the flu and that, if you get it, you will have to miss some classes. Not only that, but you will feel a lot better if you rest, either at home or in your room, than if you force yourself to suffer through classes while you are sick. So please, if you have flu symptoms, be good to yourself and everyone else by not going to class. Tell your professors by email that you think you have the flu and will miss some classes. Faculty members have been asked to be flexible in that situation and to help you, and I'm confident that they will.

And Mary, I never said they had to miss class - I just said stopping by health services wouldn't hurt you and it'd be beneficial to others as well so as to not spready ANY strain of the flu - especially the H1N1 virus.
