Default Videoconference

I am taking an online course. If I close the lid of my laptop when I am leaving the videoconference, am I disconnected? If I open the lid of my laptop 3 hours later and the camera light is still on, am I still connected somewhere, or is the camera light just still on?

Thank you.

It partially depends on what you have your laptop set to do when you close the lid. The camera light does generally indicate the camera is on, but what you may be connected to is another matter. If the laptop is set to go into standby, you'd be disconnected, but the software may try to reconnect upon waking up again. If you have it set to do nothing (aka leave Windows running) then you'll likely stay connected. I'd say the best thing to do is take the extra 30 seconds and hit the 'disconnect' button in whatever software you're using before closing the lid.
