Default Proxy - qbert.drew.edu?

Hi,

When we send out the address of our proxy server to database providers,
we are giving them 199.95.160.158. When I do an nslookup on this,
it gives qbert.drew.edu. On the other hand, when I do an nslookup
on 192.107.29.18 I get proxy.drew.edu.

What is 199.95.160.158, does it function as a Drew proxy, and should
we be sending this address to our providers, saying that it is our proxy?

Thanks,

Jim

192.107.39.18 is the address of Drew's proxy server... 70.18.81.103 is just one of our public addresses from the NAT pool... So, this means that you have Mozilla configured to use the Proxy, but IE isn't. (When you have the proxy set up and you are on-campus, it directs all traffic through the proxy.. for caching purposes... When you are off-campus, only the research resources and other sites that need to be proxied get proxied...)

192.107.39.18 is the address of the proxy server.

However, the database providers should include all of Drew's public IP ranges in theri access list, otherwise on-campus workstations without the proxy server set up won't be able to get to them.

Ok, next logical question is, I suppose, do we in the Library have an accurate list of all of Drew's public IP ranges. It looks as if, perhaps, we don't, since the 199.95.160.158 was the address we had for the Proxy server.

We had: 192.107.39.0
70.18.80-86.0
and 199.95.160.158.

Is this current, accurate, and complete?

Ginny
