Indy bands...

So I'm really into the whole indy band/performer thing, so I thought I'd see who else people are listening to with this bent.

My current favorites are

Also for those that are interested. Granian will be playing over in Morristown this saturday, and they are my current favorite.

THE STORY OF OURSELVES, fondly known as TSOO. listen to them and listen good - they come to drew a lot and the lead singer/guitarist is helping me decorate my dorm. buy a CD so that she can afford train fare? lol.

Any and all... Brian Kent listed by me is a singer who does serious club mix stuff...

As they are almost all I've been listening to, I would definitely recommend the Hold Steady, I don't know how to describe them. They remind me a lot of the Dismemberment Plan, but my boyfriend says I'm crazy.

Madison and Outsmarting Simon are my personal favorite local NJ bands, but they sound nothing alike. Madison is hardcore with an underlying moog and OS is a slow rocky kind of deal who sound like Penfold and quote T. S. Eliot.

awesome i'll post around here and the drew lj whenever we can get them another show. look for posters around campus, too - the lead singer's a graphic designer and the bassist is an art major, so they're always pretty cool. haha.

Ooh, The Fiery Furnaces. And no, that isn't misspelled. I'd link their site, but it's flash and annoying and noninformative, really. Of their albums, I only have Blueberry Boat, so I'd recommend getting that.

Also, the Kaiser Chiefs. I'm not sure if they're really considered indie, but I like them a lot.

Blueberry Boat is such a good album, but I played it so much it started to annoy me. The songs are really long. The only song I can still listen to is Rub Alcohol Blues. Good choice though.
