Open Call for Drew Student Writers!

The Chapman Prize in Poetry (SENIORS ONLY)
Established in 2005 to celebrate the rich legacy of Robert Chapman, a distinguished teacher, linguist, lexicographer, medievalist, and poet who taught at Drew from 1966 to 1986, by honoring extraordinary undergraduate achievement and promise in the writing of poetry.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

• Graduating seniors are invited to submit ten pages of poetry.
• Include a cover page listing your name and contact information, but do not put your name on the pages of the work submitted.
• Email entries as an attachment with “Chapman Entry” in the subject line to english@drew.edu.

The Christopher Goin Memorial Prize in Creative Writing (SENIORS ONLY)
Endowed in 1989 by New Jersey Bell colleagues and family in memory of Chris Goin C’78. Awarded to one or more seniors winning a manuscript contest sponsored by the English department. The manuscript must merit distinction for its substance, style, and imagination.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

• Graduating seniors are invited to submit either one short story, ten pages of poetry, or one piece of creative non-fiction.
• Include a cover page listing your name and contact information, but do not put your name on the pages of the work submitted.
• Email entries as an attachment with “Goin Entry” in the subject line to english@drew.edu.

American Academy of Poets Student Poetry Prize (ALL STUDENTS)
Awarded annually to students for writing poetry.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

• Submit a group of 3-5 poems.
• Include a cover page listing your name and contact information, but do not put your name on the pages of the work submitted.
• Email entries as an attachment with “Academy Prize Entry” in the subject line to english@drew.edu.
• In addition to a cash prize, winners will receive a one-year membership to AAP.

All entries must be received by Saturday, March 1, 2014.

Winner will receive a cash prize, and will be invited to participate in the annual Student Prize Reading in April 2014 as the final event of the Writers@Drew reading series.
