Default why are there no ashtrays

i have been working here for several months and have found that most of the buildings around campus have no ashtrays. It seems to me that there should be a at a very minimum one astray to every building and not three on the entire campus. this seems like the place to talk about this because it is a matter of being forced to flick my cigarette on the ground and litter which i do not intend to do but there are no proper receptacles there needs to be a plan to take care of this problem, can we take care of this???

Facilities has ordered about 34 "butt cans" (a Chief Evans term) since smoking will no longer be allowed in the res halls.

Oh wow, smoking used to be allowed in the dorms?

What's the NJ law now anyways -- is there no smoking at all inside public buildings? (What about restaurants, clubs, etc)?

Yeah, there used to be various smoking floors on certain dorms, and I think Asbury was all smoking. Until June, that is. This past year we actually had a fire in one of the freshman dorms.

Oops!

Personally, I've never had a problem with going outside to smoke...although I have recently noticed that I smoke less in the winter...

golly, just so you know you can still smoke in any building that allows you to with the exceptions of government buildings and places that have their own policy, but otherwise this is not N.Y.C. just yet, but those politicians keep trying......those jerks

did they go through with the no smoking twenty feet from a res hall or is it just no smoking in the halls? because if it's the twenty feet rule then herb circle is screwed. i dont think there's ANY place in herb where you're not ten feet from a building, let alone twenty...heh. smoking on the woco patio is my THING. i will be so sad if i have to retire my bench and stand in the middle of the path instead...lol.

and ps, the tolley fire...what the fuck? i wasn't even living there then, but how does someone conveniently spill lighter fluid and then conveniently drop a match onto it? i've had my share of fire incidents, and maybe i am just a controlled pyro, but how DOES that happen?

crazy. i think i need a clove.

well, it wasn't "dropped into lighter fluid" so much as "tried to put out in a puddle of said lighter fluid." I mean, who hasn't made that mistake before?

lol@Tolley fire. craziest night ever.

Dia, I hope you can still smoke outside because the smell of cloves is one of the best smells ever. I keep having dreams that I smoke cloves. Maybe I'm meant to ruin my lungs.

ohhh, so it was INTENTIONAL stupidity rather than just a stupid mistake. gotcha.

and mandy - yeah, clove smoke is fantastic. i generally dislike cigarette smoke [except anna's and ramona's for some reason...no clue why] but cloves just makes me happy. especially when being smoked on the fire escape at hoyt. in fishnets. and knee-high boots. and a sarong.

not that i have ever done that. ever.
