Default Macbook Fails to Login

I just got this macbook pro today, and after I completed the setup with the Drew technicians and turned off the computer, I can no longer login into my computer with my user ID and password that worked originally, and there is now a red dot in the name field that says network accounts are unavailable when I click on it. I am now off campus...is there something quick that I am missing?

Have you logged in on campus with an ethernet plugged in before?

Yes I did. I had to go to the Help Desk and they had to reimage my laptop. Apparently this problem should affect all macbook pros but is unnoticeable unless the laptop has no ethernet or wifi connection to drew. Mine is now fixed, but others should visit the Drew Help Desk.

This problem does not affect all of the MacBook Pros or the MacBook Airs, though those that have the problem won't realize it until they leave campus. It does not apply to Macs that were issued last year. If you would like to know if you have this problem before you leave campus, please email helpdesk@drew.edu or log a ticket at technology.drew.edu. Someone will get back to you. We have a new solution that does not require a reimage and takes about 5 minutes.

I got a Macbook from Drew a few months ago and I guess it has this problem. I usually leave my computer on most of the time, so it hasn't been an issue when off campus. But it shut off today, I'm on vacation, and now I can't login to use the computer.

If Drew was aware of this problem, which it seems they were in August, why were we not notified about this? I get tons of emails from clubs and everything other little event going on at Drew, but you don't think that this is worth emailing people about? That's wrong. Really really wrong. If Drew knew about this problem, I should have been notified.

I just searched my email three times because I'm so stunned that I wouldn't be emailed about this. I can't find anything with the word "Macbook" in it. Surely, I must have missed something?
