Day of Silence!
Day of Silence is a national day of action held annually in protest of the silencing that is often forced upon LGBT youth. Participants show their solidarity with silenced LGBT youth by wearing a patch (provided by the Alliance) on clothing and, if they wish, remaining silent throughout the day until the silence is broken at Breaking of the Silence.
Breaking of the Silence: 6 PM to 9 PM
UC Courtyard (UC Lounge if rain)
Featuring readings by co-sponsoring organizations, performances by a capella groups, performance by Campbell Payne ('11), and open mic for anyone wishing to speak about their experiences with having been silenced.
Night of Noise!
We will be screening Fish Out of Water, a film about LGB youth growing up in fundamentalist Christian households, in which the filmmaker (helped by theologians) examines the Bible passages that have traditionally been used to condemn same-sex sexuality.
