go to the "welcome to Drew" page, and at the bottom click onto the Orientation page. at the bottom of the orientation page is a link for the placement exam sign up.

A 4 on the AP Lit & Comp isn't acceptable for exemption, right? Only Lang & Comp? And same for any score above 620 on the new SAT verbal section?

i'm not sure about the SAT score, but you only need a 4 on AP language and composition (11th grade). literature doesn't count in the book, but you could try calling up the registration office and see if you could work something out. it seems really unfair that they don't count it too.

good luck!

yeah, i dont know anything about these new standards and whatnot, but i was exempt from ALL of my writing requirements because i got a 760 on the writing SATII. it's not listed anywhere in the book though. so to be safe, ask. actually, ask twice, because you're bound to hear somewhere down the line that you have to do it anyway, and it's better to be safe than sorry. the registrar tried to force me into research writing but i smote them with my wit and angry emails

I got a 720 on the Writing section of the new SAT I... I like how I'm qualified in all the wrong areas, haha.

Who would I email about it? Could I get a recommendation, or something?

try REGIST@DREW.EDU. they'll route you to whoever deals with this crap. unlike the financial aid department, the registrar, in my experience, has been pretty amiable and eager to please. they should be able to let you know what's up.

also, check your registration page in campusweb. that should tell you whether you need to take writing classes. that's where i discovered the mistake in my schedule. and don't worry - if things are still iffy by the time you get to school, you have until the end of your sophomore year before you get into serious trouble for not having taken the necessary classes, and i know seniors who were in research writing. so don't sweat it too much

i called the office yesterday and asked the same question because i thought i could be exempt with my ACT essay score. apparently SAT/ACT scores dont mean anything and everyone needs to take the writing placement test.
