Default Bummed that winter break is over? Need plans for spring break?

GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER. LIVE UNITED.

JOIN ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK!

Trade swimming trunks for tool belts this spring and team up with United Way to make a meaningful impact in communities across the country. From continuing to rebuild the Gulf Coast after hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike, to addressing the issues plaguing urban America, Student United Way volunteers will roll up their sleeves to make a difference.

HOW DO I JOIN?
Drew University students will be traveling March 5-14 to New Orleans to continue to rebuild homes for folks displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Almost four and a half years later, only 50% of the population has been able to return to their homes.

Join us to make an impact! First, come learn more about joining up with United Way of Morris County to advance the common good in the areas of education, income and health. Learn how you can make a difference on campus and in the community by educating, advocating, volunteering and fundraising. Then, learn how you can sign up to join us this spring!

We’ll also be looking for people to sign up as ASB Team Leaders. In this role you will have an important leadership role in your program, helping to plan, frame and execute an ASB for a team of dedicated peers.

GET STARTED
Find out more at an info session:
·Thursday, Jan. 28 / UC 104 / 6:30-7:30pm
·Monday, Feb. 1 / Commons 209 / 12:00- 1:00pm

Default Only 11 Days Left to Sign Up for United Way's Alternative Spring Break!

Come LIVE UNITED with Drew students and other people from around the country by helping folks in New Orleans continue getting their lives back to normal, 4 1/2 years after Hurricane Katrina. Work may vary from construction projects to build people's homes to helping clean and organize community organizations. No experience necessary!

Check out this YouTube video to see what United Way's Alternative Spring Break (ASB) experience is all about! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL4z0zkMjOg

If you'd like to be a participant, fill out your ASB application here: http://surveys.unitedway.org/cgi-bin...dll?idx=N2HY8E

To take on an additional leadership role, sign up to be an ASB Team Leader here: http://surveys.unitedway.org/cgi-bin...dll?idx=V3UM32

*NOTE: When you get the about Page 7 on the applications, they'll ask you which program you're applying for. Check "Student United Way Impact Exchange" and of course, pick "Drew University" for the name of the college you're attending.

There is a required deposit of $200 for each person, to be turned in to me by this Friday, February 12. The total costs for the trip will be somewhere between $350 - $700, depending on which mode of transportation we choose to get down to New Orleans; everyone will be responsible for doing some fundraising to cover our costs. I'll have a tool to help everyone with this.

Interested? Questions? Email me at ltan@drew.edu for more information.
