Default Times you say...

I'm driving down from MA...four hours roughly...and I don't have $100 to pay for a hotel room. Is there any way I can request a later time?

I live in Springfield, which is about 15 minutes away--do people who live closer usually have an earlier/later check-in time due to location? I would think that they let the out-of-towners come later so they don't have to get up at the crack of dawn on the 1st.

Default move in is great

So, I'm going to be an upcoming junior but it looks like a lot of you guys are nervous about moving in and all the people and stuff so I thought I'd post since I'm pretty bored for the summer.
I'm the third in my family to go to college, and my parents LOVED the move in at Drew. They said it was the best organized and smoothly run move in they'd ever seen. And it really was,(and my class was bigger than yours is, so there were more people), even though it sounds crazy as its described, the OC team runs it great!! I had a great experience moving in, and its nice to meet your roommate first off instead of waiting till he/she gets there. Anyway, I just thought I'd tell you guys not to worry!

We used to do it by location, however, it led to problems when there would be a lull at one res hall and a huge rush at another. Also, we could never decide on which way to do it. On the one hand the advantage of having the closest people come first, is that it lets people from farther away not have to get up at the crack of dawn. On the other hand there are also problems with the people farthest away comming later in the day. A lot of people driving a long distance tend to leave themselves a lot of time, meaning they usually show up well before their scheduled check-in time and cause there to be more cars than we can handle at one time. Also, if they didnt leave enough time and their flight gets delayed or they hit traffic, they show up after checkin-in has finished.

Since there was constant debate about which method worked best, we decided to just come up with a system that would provide a smooth and even flow to all the areas people are moving into.

No, that should be ok. While we strongly encourage parents to attend, we understand that some parents just are not able to. We probably won't be covering anything that is absolutely crucial for them to know.
