i'm at about page 100 and i have to stop reading it at times b/c it just angers me so much. this def wouldn't have been a book i would have read out of my own desire, but while i don't particularly like it. i can recognize that it is a good book.

I think it's a beautifully written book, as sad as it can be at times. Why does it make you angry? (this is also coming from an english geek, so oh well)

the reason i get mad is that the amir at times really bothers me on the fact that he didn't have the courage to stand up for hassan and later on he goes on to treat him badly and even planting his gifts to make hassan look like a thief i don't dislike the book but i get into the story and i begin to hate amir as a character.

i think you have to consider that a: he was just a child, and b: he was growing up in a situation where he had to 'fight' for his father's attention, i mean, all children go through that sort of selfishness. if have already finished it, then you know what his father must have been going through at the time.

Lauren, it is due one week prior to the start of orientation. The sheet with the due date should have come in the same packet as the common reading book. It was at the bottom of the letter from Dean Lawler
