Default Calling All Singers!

Wanna audition for Drew's Coed A Capella group, All of the Above?
(the answer is "yes," just a p.s. for ya)

We'll be auditioning the first week of classes, so look out for a campus-wide email! It will contain all the details you need.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me! (idestefa)

Default Ian, maybe you would know--

Okay, it's not about your group (sorry) it's about singing--is there anywhere, anywhere on campus where a student can practice? An instrument/voice, that is. I'm new. Help me.

Dorothy,

I'm positive there are practice rooms in the Music wing of the Dorothy (ha!) Young Center for the Arts over across campus next to the admissions building. As for how you get access to such facilities, I wouldn't know. I'm sure that if you go there sometime during the day that some music prof could help you out/give you more info!

So what exactly do the auditions consist of? Do we come with something prepared or do you have something for us?

Katharine,

You should prepare about one verse and a chorus of a song that
a. you are comfortable with
b. you think some of us in the group will be familiar with.

Other than that, we'll test your vocal range (have you sing up and down so we can see how high and low you can sing), and we'll test your tonal memory (how accurately you can remember sequences of tones).

If you get a call-back, we'll have you learn sections of a few songs and sing with the group so we can check how well you blend and how quickly you can learn a piece.

If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot any of the members an email or reply on the forums!

Thanks for your interest,
Tom
