Red face anyone from somewhere not in New Jersey?

I feel like the only one who is from far away. I also want to know if anyone is going to Drew, and doesn't know anyone else, like a friend or family member? I'm just deathly afraid that I'm going to be alone. Is that a bad thing?

During your first week you'll meet *tons* of people (in addition to, of course, your roomate), and I'm 100% sure that out of all those people you'll find some who share the same interests as you, etc.

So don't worry!! Everyone gets a little nervous, especially if this is your first time away from home, but I promise it'll be fine. Plus you've got the OC to help you through it, and trust me they are *really* helpful.

My advice to you for now is to relax and enjoy your summer because next fall will come sooner than you think!!

I'm from Maryland, and no one else from my school is going to be there- I think it's just a nice opportunity to meet lots of new people, so I'm really looking forward to it.

From the latest factbook (pdf), about 40% of students each year are not from New Jersey, so don't worry about everyone already knowing people here. Most of the people I know didn't have friends here when they came. What I found is that most people hang out with their roomate for a day or two, then find friends and hang out with them. That's what the orientation is for. You've got a few days before the rest of campus comes back, so that's all time to make friends. The OC (orientation commitee) does a really good job at organizing events for freshmen to meet people at. Do try to go to them. They're fun, and you will meet people.

Hey Christina, I'm from Rockville (in Montgomery County). Yeah, I'm pretty excited to go to Drew- so many of my friends are going to UMD though.

the above is true!! and if you are friendly and are around friendly people (ME lol!) you'll be okay. there are 400 of us and most don't know eachother....so there are no worries! WE'RE ALL NEW!!

i love meeting people, and may have a few organized things like pizza-movie night in my residence hall everyone is invited to! (stuff like that..) I LOVE PEOPLE!! so, there will be MANY opportunities to meet people, whether through me, or anything ELSE going on....don't forget orientation! WHAT A BLAST IT WILL BE *****it ends in a boat trip!*****
