![]() Interactive Workshop on Classical Dance of India
Presented by the Comparative Religion Department, South Asian Students Association, Asia Tree House, & the Andrew W. Mellon Arts and the Common Good Grant Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 7-8:30pmSabrina Dance Crawford Hall, Ehinger Center Facilitated by Sabrina D. MisirHiralall Doctoral Candidate Pedagogy and Philosophy Montclair State University Sabrina MisirHiralall’s forthcoming dissertation focuses on how she uses Kuchipudi Indian classical Hindu dance to educate non-Hindus about Hinduism with postcolonial realities in mind. She recently published The Postcolonial Reality of Using the Term ‘Liturgical’ to Describe Hindu Dance in the Journal of Research on Christian Education. In this workshop, MisirHiralall will provide a short lecture, demonstration, and hands-on learning of gestures and their meanings. ALL ARE WELCOME, SEATING IS LIMITED, & REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!
