Default Spam in email

Hi. I am having problems with lots of spam in my inbox. All of the emails begin with "RE:" to make it look like a reply, and all have a different subject line after that like "travel plans" and "power wheelchair". It looks like they are all coming from different domains, but all the addresses start out as "info@" and then the domains vary, so blacklisting doesn't seem like it would be helpful. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of them? I am getting like 10 a day.

Elizabeth,

If the spam you are experiencing is in your Drew email, you can do the following:

Go to http://spam.drew.edu
Log in with your Drew uLogin information

Then check to make sure that your Spam Preferences - located in the Spam group of the Preferences tab - match the settings here:

It DOES help to blacklist those domains. Unless the address is from a provider you trust, or an internet domain provider that you or your friends use (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc.), you should choose to quarrantine all mail from those domains as spam. This will help eliminate them.

You may be getting so many emails because you accidentally opened one. Make it a policy never to open email from someone you don't know - that way you'll avoid becoming a spam magnet.

If you're experiencing problems with a program other than Drew's email, check the spam settings there or contact your internet service provider to ask for their recommended spam settings.
