Campus Jobs available in Art History
The Visual Resources Library is looking for student assistants for the 2008-2009 academic year. Graduate students are encouraged to apply! The Visual Resources Curator, Krista White, will be happy to train you to fulfill the following duties for the position:
·Use flatbed and slide scanners to create quality digital images for faculty use
·Correct images for clarity, color accuracy and other criteria using Adobe Photoshop CS2
·Research and look up information about images in sources provided and on authoritative web resources
·Enter important data about each scanned image in the VCat collections management software according to specific guidelines.
·Organize and store images and their data on departmental network drives and external hard drives in an organized fashion to facilitate finding and using images.
·Work with faculty one-on-one for for scanning projects.
·Some organization, refilling and labeling of older slides may occasionally be necessary.
Interested students should have good organizational skills and enjoy learning about art. Experience with scanners and Adobe Photoshop CS2 are a plus, but not required.
Interested students should:
-be eligible for Federal Work Study
-have a basic level of comfort with technology
- have good organizational skills
- have a desire to learn about art
- have a desire to learn about principles of professional information management
-have the ability to adapt and to learn new computer programs and systems quickly
-be punctual and reliable
-have excellent customer service skills and a comfort level dealing with faculty in a
-must be able to work at least 5 hours a week
-have the ability to follow through with assigned projects
The Visual Resources Library is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00AM -4:00PM, and on Fridays from 8:00AM-11:30AM. Work on other days is available contingent upon the availability and needs of Art History faculty.
