Default Brief outage tonight...

The Drew Community Forums will be unavailable briefly after midnight tonight (hopefully less than one hour) to upgrade the vBulletin software to the latest release. There are a few bugfixes in the new release that we'd like to get applied.

The biggest change that users will notice is a revamped (more functional) WYSIWYG editor for posts.

Apologies for the short notice...

Looks like some of the template changes in the new version might conflict with my iChain hacks.. No big deal.. but I need to look at it further, and do some more testing before the upgrade...

I'm tentatively postponing this until tomorrow...

Upgrade complete! The biggest change users should notice is a new WYSIWYG editor for writing posts.

If you have problems with the new editor (specifically, none of the formatting controls seem to do anything when you click them, and the font and size do not appear in their respective drop-downs), it is because your browser has cached an old copy of the editor. In that case, you should either clear your browser's cache or Cntrl-Shift-Reload the page to refresh it.

Default This page contains secure and nonsecure items

An issue with the new editor in IE for Windows: Apparently, the way they are pulling in some of the JavaScript is causing IE to throw the annoying "This page contains secure and nonsecure items." warning because we are using SSL.

I've logged a bug with Jelsoft to fix their JavaScript, but in the meantime here's a workaround if that warning is annoying you:
  1. In IE, go to Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Click the Custom Level button.
  4. Scroll through the various options and find the Miscellaneous category.
  5. For the option "Display mixed content", select Enable.
  6. Click OK.
A better workaround: Use a browser that sucks less, like Mozilla...
