Default Boys Or Men? Duped Or ‘made’? Palestinian Soldiers In The Israeli Military

On Thursday March 26, at 5:45 pm, Dr. Rhoda Kanaaneh will speak about Palestinians who serve in the Israeli military (Drew University’s Hall of Sciences S244).

Rhoda Kanaaneh has taught anthropology and gender and sexuality studies at New York University, American University in Washington and Columbia University. She has held fellowships at Harvard University and the European University Institute. She is the author of Birthing the Nation (University of California 2002) and of Surrounded: Palestinian Soldiers in the Israeli Military (Stanford University Press, 2008), and is co-editor with Isis Nusair of Displaced at Home: Ethnicity and Gender Among Palestinians in Israel (State University of New York, 2011). Rhoda’s current research focuses on Arab applicants for gender and sexuality asylum in the US.
