The Writing Center is OPEN
Unleash the writer within!
Writing is a complex process that draws on a number of complex resources and skills.
But there are strategies and habits that DO lead to more effective writing over time.
We aim to dash the myth of the solitary writer working alone in her/his room. Our experienced readers will help you to develop your ideas, talk through your assignments, and become more aware of your writing’s strengths and weaknesses. No matter what project you’re working on, or how far along with it you may be, a conversation about your work can help you to be a more effective and aware writer.
Writers who speak to one another about their works in progress come away feeling more energized, innovative, enlightened, and confident about their projects and their plans for revision.
Hours of Operation
During Fall and Spring semesters, we are open:
Monday–Thursday 11am to 5pm
(The last six Fridays of the semester we are also open 10am to 3pm
Limited Evening Hours: Tuesday/Thursday, 6pm to 8pm.
Closed weekends, University breaks, and holidays
Scheduling an Appointment
Because our appointments are on a first-come first-served basis, we recommend scheduling your appointment at least one week in advance. During high demand weeks (such as midterms and finals), we recommend that you contact the Center two to three weeks in advance.
There are three ways to book an appointment:
Reserving a consultant’s time and then failing to show up for your appointment prevents other students from utilizing our services. If you have to cancel your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible by calling x3617, emailing email@example.com, or stopping by the Writing Center in person.
If you miss three scheduled appointments without canceling in advance, you will no longer be able to schedule appointments in advance. You may use the Writing Center on a walk-in/wait basis only.
