Our mission statement:
WoCo: A Feminist House was founded in 1989 in conjunction with the
Women’s and Gender Studies Program. We are a community of women and
men dedicated to being a women-friendly and feminist-positive place on
campus, appreciating the multiplicity of experiences including, but not
limited to, such areas as gender, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity,
and class. The House is an environment committed to promoting awareness
through active discussion and education, as well as by putting theories
into practice. The House is a safe, open space that operates on the
basis of mutual respect and personal growth, for house members and the
Drew Community at large.
Things to note:
-Applicants of any gender are welcome.
-We are located in Eberhardt 23 and 24, between La Casa Latina and Earth
-We have large bedrooms, a kitchen, a cozy living space, a house reader
and bookshelf, and a cuddle corner!
-We meet once a week for discussion and program planning.
-Every house member is responsible for attending house programs,
contributing to campus-wides, and organizing one in-house program of
their own each semester. Past programs have included Take Back the
Night, PostSecret, feminist spoken word performer Staceyann Chin, and
GLBTQ activist Judy Shepard.
-We are a close-knit community of fun, activist-minded students, and we
are always excited to have someone new join us! Feel free to stop by
anytime to meet our housemates and see the living space.
Email House Assistant Kelly Joyce Johnson at email@example.com with any questions. Applications will be going out via email soon.
