Unhappy itunes problems!!

My computer keeps telling me whenever i open up itunes that the registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. It says this can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software, but i havent done that! Then it asks politely for me to reinstall itunes, which i do.. but then it still says the same thing when i go to open the program again and the story starts all over agian! Ive also tried installing the new itunes and that doesnt work either bc it tells me that i do not have the capacity or the requirements to install, or something along those lines... i know our computers have to have the requirements.. they were expensive enough.. but my roommate downloaded the 7.0 version, so why cant i??

sad and confused.. please help..
