Default Loud noises at 7:30 a.m.

I'm staying in Hoyt for summer term because I'm doing summer research for DSSI.

I had left my window open last night because it had gotten significantly cooler. I was expecting Facilities to have some idea that some students were occupying Hoyt during the summer, and that they would be respectful of that students are usually sleeping at 7:30 a.m. I for some reason had an expectation that Facilities would not start mowing Hoyt's lawn that early in the morning when students--many with open windows--were sleeping.

That expectation was too high, alas. I suppose it must be a graduation requirement to learn to not have such expectations of Facilities.

Thumbs down

Don't forget about the Oasis kids screaming at 9am this morning. And the loud noises happened on Sunday around 8:30am as well.

They're doing their job, not personally harming you.

I agree with Ronnie, they are doing their job, and earning money to support themselves. I've had this experience many times over the past 3 years, and have managed to deal with it. No one is trying to hurt you by mowing the lawn. The kids screaming, on the other hand would drive me insane.

I had this experience when I was at Drew for the summer, and it is deeply frustrating. However, it's also a fact of life. I live in an apartment now, and about once a week I'm woken up by the landscaping company mowing the lawn at my building, or the building next door. It drives me nuts, but there is really nothing that I can do about it. Someone's lawn has to get mowed at 7am.

Perhaps you could ask facilities if they might adjust their mowing schedule so that areas near Hoyt are mowed later in the morning?

I think you should offer to mow the lawn for them later on during the day when it's about 100 degrees outside.
