Default DVD playback on T61

When I try to play a DVD in Windows Media Player, I get picture but no sound, and a message saying "DVD playback is not enabled." So it prompts me to open InterVideo WinDVD, but in that program I get sound and no picture. Does anyone know what I should do?

Was your laptop recently reimaged? When I had my comp reimaged, I was having the same problem ONLY when I tried to play dvds/cds. I tried installing different players, but if that doesn't work, you might be missing a codec. I downloaded an xp codec pack, and the problem was fixed.

You can download the codec pack from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm

Before registering, you can also try this: Open WinDVD and right click on the screen. Go to "Setup" and click the Video tab. At the top, there should be two boxes. Uncheck the box that says "Use hardware decode acceleration." The other box will be unchecked also. Click Apply and click ok.
